Vande Bharat Express Route Diverted Due to Nagasamudram Station Upgrade

Railway operations at Nagasamudram station in Karnataka are undergoing critical infrastructure upgrades, resulting in temporary changes to train routes, including the prestigious Vande Bharat Express. From July 2 to July 28, 2025, the loop line (Road-3) at the station will be suspended as it is being upgraded to mainline standards. Additionally, OHE (Overhead Equipment) portals are being relocated as part of the project.

Vande Bharat Express Trains to Follow Diversion Routes

As a result of the loop line suspension, several Vande Bharat Express trains will be diverted during this period:

Train Number 22231 (Kalaburagi to SMVT Bengaluru - except Fridays)
New route: Anantapur → Dharmavaram → Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam → Penukonda → Yelahanka

Train Number 20703 (Kacheguda to Yesvantpur - except Wednesdays)
New route: Dharmavaram → Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam → Penukonda → Yesvantpur

Train Number 22232 (SMVT Bengaluru to Kalaburagi - except Thursdays)
New route: Yelahanka → Penukonda → Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam → Dharmavaram → Anantapur

These changes are temporary and have been implemented to ensure uninterrupted rail traffic during the ongoing Nagasamudram station modernization work.

Temporary Train Stops Extended at Birur and Ramagiri

To assist passengers affected by the route diversions, the South Western Railway has extended temporary halts at the following stations:

Birur Station

Ramagiri Station

This extension applies from July 1 to December 31, 2025, for specific services:

Train Numbers 16587/16588 Yeshvantpur-Bikaner-Yeshvantpur Bi-weekly Express

Train Numbers 17325/17326 Belagavi-Mysuru-Belagavi Vishwamanava Daily Express

Train Numbers 17391/17392 KSR Bengaluru-SSS Hubballi-KSR Bengaluru Daily Express

These stops are being added on a trial basis as per the current timetable.

No Regular Stops Missed Despite Diversions

The South Western Railway has assured that no regular halts will be skipped during the diversion period. All scheduled passenger stops will continue as per the official timetable, ensuring minimal inconvenience to travelers.

Why the Changes at Nagasamudram Station?

The upgrade of the loop line (Road-3) to mainline status is part of a long-term infrastructure plan aimed at improving rail connectivity and train handling capacity at Nagasamudram station. The relocation of Overhead Equipment (OHE) portals is also part of this modernization process.
