Security Lapse at Parappana Agrahara Jail After Police Constable Meets Darshan

After news broke about an unauthorised meeting with actor Darshan Thoogudeepa inside Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, the cracks in prison security became impossible to ignore. The Prison Department's top cop, DGP Alok Kumar, jumped into action. He ordered a full investigation, shifted a senior warden out, and didn't mince words-any police or jail staff caught bending the rules would face strict consequences.

Kumar didn't stop there. He made it clear: nobody in jail, whether they're a celebrity or not, gets special treatment. He called the incident a serious breach of prison rules and insisted that every official who helped make this meeting happen has to answer for it.

Turns out, this whole episode started back on January 24. A constable from Yelahanka police showed up at Parappana Agrahara on official work-to bring in accused people for another case. But instead of sticking to his job, officials say he apparently used the chance to track down Darshan inside the high-security jail.

Early findings show the constable reached out to a jail staffer named Prabhu from inside. He asked for help meeting the actor. Warden Prabhakar Chauhan then allegedly helped by sneaking the constable through parts of the jail without CCTV coverage, right up to the barracks where Darshan was being held.

Nobody caught on until DGP Alok Kumar visited the jail on January 26. While checking the CCTV footage, officials noticed a police officer moving around in areas that should've been off-limits. That set off alarms, and they started digging into who went where and when.

When prison authorities questioned Darshan, he confirmed a man in khaki had met him that day. That bit of info helped investigators connect the dots-it really was the Yelahanka constable, with help from jail staff, who pulled off the meeting.

After all this came out, they transferred warden Prabhakar Chauhan to Chamarajanagar Jail and launched a formal inquiry against him. Prabhu's involvement got written up in the report, and action against him is on the table too.

DGP Kumar also told the Deputy Commissioner of Police for North-East Bengaluru to take action against the Yelahanka constable. Senior officials admitted this whole mess exposed some big gaps in prison monitoring and said it's time to tighten up their security game.

Now, the Prison Department isn't leaving any room for doubt-anyone caught breaking security rules or sneaking people in, no matter how famous, will face instant and tough disciplinary action.
