Unable to fight corruption, young engineer ends his life in Karnataka: Report

Mysore, June 25: A 24-year-old civil engineer ended his life after failing to fight corruption in his work place. The tragic incident has happened in Mysore district of Karnataka.

According to an exclusive Headlines Today report, the young engineer, Suresh, was repeatedly asked by the chief of the Chamarajnagar Zilla Panchayat to clear fake bills related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme which he resisted.

The young engineer decided to end his life after finding no help to fight graft

The pressure on him went on increasing and when Suresh sought co-operation from his seniors in the matter, he didn't get any. A frustrated Suresh ultimately decided to immolate himself for he couldn't tolerate it any more.

Suresh was working for eight months, sources said. KH Narsimhamurthy, CEO of the Chamarajnagar Zilla Parishad told Headlines Today that the accused in the case were absconding and an enquiry had been set up to catch them.

The family of the deceased engineer was left in a deep shock.
