Tumkur Police in Hot Water: DYSP Caught In Compromising Position With Woman In Washroom

The Karnataka Police have suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) P. Ramachandrappa, who was assigned to the Madhugiri subdivision in Tumkur, after he was allegedly caught on camera in a compromising situation with a woman complainant in his office washroom on Friday. According to reports, the woman had approached the DySP regarding a land dispute complaint. She was reportedly coerced by the officer into an inappropriate situation.

The suspension orders for the officer were issued by the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) in connection with the incident. A video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the DySP in uniform engaging in an intimate act with the woman, raising serious concerns.

The incident is believed to have taken place when the woman was escorted to the DySP's office washroom, where the act occurred. It is suspected that a relative of the woman secretly recorded the footage and later circulated it online.

The 35-second video captures the officer and the woman, with the woman noticing the camera recording through a window.

The video, which shows the officer in uniform engaging in the act, further escalates concerns in Madhugiri, a town located in Tumakuru district, the home region of State Home Minister G. Parameshwara.

After the video surfaced, the 58-year-old DySP reportedly went missing but was later arrested.

Describing the alleged incident as a grave concern, a senior police officer emphasized that the department has a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment or violence against women.

"We have registered a case under sections 68 (sexual intercourse by a person in authority), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The DySP has been arrested and suspended from service," the officer stated.

The investigation is being led by an officer of Additional Superintendent of Police rank, the senior official further revealed.

It remains unclear whether the woman has filed a formal complaint against the officer, with police awaiting instructions from senior officials for further action.

Reports also allege that the DySP had previously engaged in inappropriate conduct with the woman during her visits to his office, related to the ongoing land dispute case.

Reports suggest that the woman's relative recorded the video after being unable to tolerate the officer's exploitation any longer. During questioning, the woman denied the allegations in the video, claiming she was simply taking blessings from the officer.
