Tragic Accident On Bangalore-Mysore Expressway Claims Three Lives

A tragic accident occurred on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway, despite ongoing efforts to enhance safety. A car lost control, collided with a divider, and then hit a KSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction. This incident resulted in the immediate deaths of two men and a woman in the car. The crash took place near Sangabasavanadoddi in Ramnagar taluk around 9:30 pm on Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Liakat (50), Asma (38), and Noor (40), all residents of Shivajinagar, Bengaluru. They were travelling from Bangalore to Mysore for a family event. The Hyundai i Ten car they were in was an older model with a Delhi registration number. The impact was so severe that the car was crushed, trapping its occupants inside.

Accident Investigation Underway

Ramnagar traffic police responded promptly to the scene, assisted by locals in extracting the bodies from the wreckage. The deceased were then transported to Ramnagar government hospital. The accident caused a temporary traffic jam on the highway due to the severity of the collision.

Efforts by the National Highway Authority to curb accidents on this expressway have been ongoing, yet incidents persist. Speed detectors have been installed, and fines are imposed for exceeding 100 km/h. However, reports suggest that at the time of this accident, the car's speed did not exceed 70 km/h.

Safety Measures and Concerns

Despite these measures, accidents continue to occur frequently on this route. The state police department has been proactive in implementing safety protocols to protect lives. Nevertheless, this latest incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on this busy highway.

The Ramnagar police are currently investigating to determine what led to this unfortunate accident. They aim to uncover any underlying factors that might have contributed to it beyond speed limits or vehicle conditions.

This tragic event underscores the need for continued vigilance and possibly more stringent safety measures on highways like Bangalore-Mysore Expressway. It serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety for all travellers using these routes daily.
