Poor Roads In Bengaluru Claims Life Of Young Techie Priyanka

A tragic accident in Bengaluru resulted in the death of 26-year-old Priyanka when she fell from a motorcycle and was run over by a lorry. The incident, caused by poor road conditions, emphasizes the critical need for helmet use and road safety.

A 26-year-old techie, Priyanka, tragically lost her life on Madanayakanahalli–Huskur Road in Bengaluru on Saturday morning after a bike she was riding on skidded to avoid a pothole. Priyanka was riding pillion with her brother when the accident occurred, causing both to fall. She was run over by a lorry and died instantly.

Accident Details and Response

The incident took place around 9:30 a.m., with poor road conditions due to ongoing construction contributing to the mishap. Priyanka’s brother, who was driving the motorcycle and wearing a helmet, sustained only minor injuries. Priyanka, however, was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Authorities from Madanayakanahalli Police registered a case and visited the scene to collect evidence. Priyanka’s body has been transported to Nelamangala Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are yet to record a formal statement from her brother, who is still in shock following the accident.

Investigation Underway

A police source stated, “Priyanka’s brother was riding the bike while she was on the pillion. When he tried to avoid a bad patch of road, both fell. He survived due to his helmet, but Priyanka was run over by a lorry and died on the spot.”

Authorities plan to record her brother’s account once he is emotionally stable. The incident underscores the importance of wearing helmets and maintaining road infrastructure to ensure commuter safety.
