Torrential Rains Lash Bengaluru, Breaks 8-Year November Rainfall Record
The state has seen the transition from the monsoon season, with hopes of a stronger monsoon influence. However, a cyclone in the Arabian Sea led to rainfall in the Karnataka capital, Bengaluru, on the night of November 6. This Monday's rainfall is the most recorded in November since 2015.
According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city received over 7 cm of rain. The heavy downpour continued into Tuesday, with 26.1 mm of rain recorded by evening.

The Yalahanka-Jakkuru region experienced the highest rainfall, receiving 164 mm. Other areas in Bengaluru also saw substantial rainfall, including 101.5 mm in Hampinagar, 82.50 mm in Nagpur Barangay, 70.60 mm in Nandini Layout, 71 mm in Nagenahalli, 69.50 mm in Rajamahal Guttahalli, 68 mm in the Mysore Road Wind Anjaneya temple area, 64 mm in Kottigepalya, 64 mm in Agraharadasarahalli, 6.95 mm in Kammanahalli (East Joan), 6.8 mm in Maruti Mandir ward, and 6.75 mm in the Peenya Industrial Area.
While the overnight rainfall didn't break records, it came close to being the wettest November day since 2015. On November 4, 2015, the city received 9 mm of rain, and since then, 7 mm of rain has not been recorded in the month of November.
The heavy rains on Monday night led to flooding in low-lying areas and underpasses in various parts of the city. Five taluks in Bengaluru, which typically receive 10 mm of rain during this period, received 211.4 mm of rain on Monday.
