Taj West End Hotel In Bengaluru Receives Bomb Threat; Police, Bomb Squad Secures Area Amid Rising Tension
A bomb threat was reported at the Taj West End Hotel near Race Course Road in Bengaluru on Saturday, prompting an immediate and thorough search by local authorities. The Highgrounds Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the hotel, swiftly dispatched a bomb squad to investigate the premises.
According to a report by Asianet News, the threat was delivered via email, targeting one of the city's luxury hotels frequented by high-profile individuals, including politicians, cricketers, and film stars. A probe has been initiated to identify and track down the person responsible for the threat.

Shekhar HT, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Bengaluru, confirmed the receipt of the bomb threat, which was sent by unknown individuals. He noted that an investigation into the incident is actively ongoing. The urgency of the situation was underscored by the hotel's prominence and the potential risk to many notable individuals.
In a separate incident, the Tardeo police in Mumbai registered a case following a bomb threat at the Haji Ali Dargah in Worli. An unidentified caller, who identified himself as 'Pawan,' made two threatening phone calls, claiming a bomb had been planted at the dargah and threatening to shoot anyone who intervened. The case has been filed under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges for public disturbance and incitement of religious tensions.
Initial investigations into the Haji Ali Dargah threat suggest that the calls may have originated from Delhi. Both phone numbers used have been traced, and the Mumbai crime branch is conducting a parallel investigation with the Tardeo police. The complaint was lodged by Mohammad Ahmed Taher Sheikh, the dargah's administrative officer, but a precautionary search found no suspicious items.
Rising Bomb Threats in Recent Times
While the police continue their investigations, it's important to note that bomb threats have been on the rise, targeting government institutions, schools, hospitals, and airports. So far, all of these threats have proven to be hoaxes, but authorities remain vigilant, especially after the March 1 bomb blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru. In a similar incident last May, several five-star hotels in the city received fake bomb threat calls, escalating security concerns.
