Siddaramaiah Govt Invites Musk To Invest In Karnataka: Will Twitter Boss Choose This State For Tesla Plant?

Days after billionaire Elon Musk said he will be coming to India in 2024, the Siddaramaiah government has invited the Tesla CEO to invest in Karnataka.

M B Patil, Karnataka's Minister for Commerce and Industries, Infrastructure, in a Twitter post, said that Karnataka is the "ideal destination" for Tesla's expansion into India.

"If Tesla considers setting up a plant in India, Karnataka, with its great potential and capabilities, I must say is The Destination," he added. "As a progressive state and a thriving hub of innovation and technology, Karnataka stands ready to support and provide the necessary facilities for Tesla and other ventures of Elon Musk, including Starlink," Patil wrote, tagging Musk's Twitter handle.

M B Patil said that Karnataka is focused on being the hub for technology and manufacturing 5.0, to propel the state for the next decades.

Elon Musk met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and revealed after the meeting that he would come to India. "I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible," he said.

"I would like to thank the Prime Minister for his support and hopefully we will be able to announce something in the not-so-distant future," Musk said.

"We do not want to jump the gun on an announcement but I think it is quite likely that it will be a significant investment in our relationship with India," the Tesla CEO said.

However, it has to be seen whether Musk will choose Karnataka or any other state to manufacture Tesla cars in India.
