'She Was My World': Father Grieves 20-Year-Old Daughter's Death In Bengaluru EV Fire Accident

A tragic fire at an electric bike showroom on Dr. Rajkumar Road in Bengaluru, near Navarang Bar Junction, claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman and injured another person on Tuesday evening.

Priya was looking forward to celebrating her 21st birthday on November 20. What should have been a day of joy has turned into a heartbreaking loss for her family, who now await her remains to perform the last rites.

Her friends remember Priya as a cheerful, dedicated employee, excited to celebrate her upcoming birthday, but fate had heartbreaking plans in store. The fire swept through My EV Store, where Priya was employed as a cashier.

Despite more than 40 employees escaping, she tragically could not find her way out in time. Firefighters later discovered her charred body, leaving her father, Arumugam, to confront an unimaginable grief.

"She was my world," Arumugam said, still struggling to accept the reality of the situation. "November 20 was supposed to be her day. I had even bought new clothes to surprise her. She always came home by 7:30 PM, but today she didn't." His eyes filled with tears as he recalled the moment he received the shocking news. A friend called him to inform him about the fire. "I rushed to the showroom, hoping it wasn't true. But when I arrived, they told me she was still inside."

"I couldn't save her. My little girl... she didn't deserve this," he lamented.

Arumugam spoke of Priya's dedication, having worked at the showroom for three years with a sense of responsibility and kindness. "She was so thoughtful," he added, his voice shaking with emotion.

Deputy Director of the Fire Brigade, Younis, confirmed that the fire likely resulted from an electrical short circuit. "The showroom lacked proper safety measures," he stated, noting that the blaze destroyed over 25 electric bikes and left Priya's dreams in ashes.

Now, Arumugam is left with only memories and unfulfilled hopes. "I should have been celebrating her birthday," he said, clutching the dress he had bought for her special day. "I will never see her wear this," he mourned.
