School Holidays in Karnataka: Kodagu Declares Break, Warning Issued in More Rain-Hit Districts

School holidays have been officially declared in Kodagu district for July 3, following continuous heavy rainfall. The District Commissioner announced a one-day break for Anganwadis, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges in the region.

With monsoon intensifying across parts of Karnataka, school closures are likely in other rain-affected areas as well-particularly in coastal districts, Shivamogga, and parts of Chikkamagaluru. However, most schools in the state are expected to remain open as of now.

Heavy Rain Hits Coastal and Malnad Districts

Intense rain was recorded across several parts of the state on July 2, especially in interior regions. According to reports, the heaviest rainfall since 8:30 AM was logged in the following areas:

113.0 mm at Kadra (Uttara Kannada)

113.0 mm at Sulagodu (Shivamogga)

107.5 mm at Wajgod (Uttara Kannada)

107.5 mm at Gotegali (Uttara Kannada)

These downpours are likely to trigger further school holidays if the situation worsens.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

In Bengaluru, July typically brings stronger monsoon activity than June. However, weather experts say that the current phase is unlikely to see back-to-back active monsoon days until mid-month. As of now, no school holidays have been announced in the city.

Residents are advised to stay updated through official alerts, especially parents in flood-prone or hilly areas where school closures may be announced with little notice.
