Room Is Not Clean...: Prajwal Revanna In Tears Over Dirty SIT Custody Conditions

Prajwal Revanna, who had been hiding abroad for 35 days to avoid arrest on charges of sexual assault and rape, was finally arrested on Friday morning. Prajwal Revanna was arrested in connection with an obscene video case, and was taken to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru for a medical examination. Following the examination, he was brought before the 42nd ACMM court judge at the City Civil Court.

During the hearing, Prajwal Revanna broke down in front of the judge. "I am in SIT custody, but the room and toilet are not clean," he said.

At the start of the hearing, the judge asked Prajwal Revanna for his name and the details of his arrest. Prajwal replied, "I am in the custody of the SIT. The room is not proper, the toilet is not proper. The room is not clean." The judge then inquired if there had been any harassment by the SIT. Prajwal clarified, "There was no harassment. The room is not clean, the toilet is not clean."

Before being produced in court, Prajwal Revanna had a meal of rice and sambar provided by SIT officials. The MP, who had previously flaunted his power and status, stood humbly before the judge, anxious about the court's decision.

During the hearing, senior advocate Ashok N Naik argued, "Prajwal Revanna has used force on the victims, intimidating and harassing them. There is a difference between undressing and forcing. None of the videos were recorded face-to-face, but there is evidence implicating Prajwal. Therefore, it is necessary to interrogate him further, and he should be remanded in SIT custody for 15 days."

However, Prajwal's lawyer, Arun, objected to the SIT's request for extended custody. "There is no allegation of rape from April 28 to May 2. The police have registered the FIR using language of their choice. The rape case is based solely on a statement under CrPC 161. A complaint was prepared in Bangalore, and an FIR was registered in Holenarasipur. One day of custody is sufficient, not 15 days," he argued.

Meanwhile, Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna was remanded to six days in police custody on Friday.
