Renukaswamy Murder Case: Will Darshan Thoogudeepa’s Bail Be Cancelled?

Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, the second accused in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case, is facing growing questions over the legitimacy of his medical bail. Despite being granted bail three weeks ago on health grounds, Darshan has yet to undergo the surgery he claimed was urgent. With key new evidence emerging, will Darshan bail be cancelled?

In the High Court, Darshan's lawyer, C.V. Nagesh, argued that the charges of kidnapping against his client were unfounded. According to Nagesh, Renukaswamy, the victim, voluntarily went with four friends on June 8, and his actions that day do not point to any coercion or abduction.

Will Darshan s Bail Be Cancelled

Nagesh further pointed out that Renukaswamy paid for drinks at a bar on his way to Bengaluru from Chitradurga, reinforcing the claim that no kidnapping took place. The defense lawyer added that while the case involved a murder, it could not be classified as a case of kidnapping with intent to kill, citing legal precedents from previous cases.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the murder case took a new turn when Home Minister G. Parameshwara revealed that photographic evidence was found, showing Darshan at the scene of the crime.

According to Parameshwara, the photos, which were recovered from a witness's mobile phone, have been sent for forensic analysis to the laboratory in Hyderabad. The Home Minister stated, "These crucial photos will be submitted to the court, and we will be requesting the cancellation of Darshan's bail."

Doubts Raised Over Darshan's Health Claims

Darshan had been granted interim bail on October 30, citing severe spine pain and the need for urgent surgery. However, the delay in the operation has raised suspicions. Minister Parameshwara expressed concerns over the authenticity of the actor's medical claims, noting that no surgery has taken place to date, and no immediate need for one has been demonstrated.

"There is no visible medical need for the surgery that Darshan's lawyers claimed was critical. Despite being granted bail for medical reasons, no surgery has been conducted," Parameshwara said.

Supplementary Charge Sheet Filed

Bengaluru police have now submitted a supplementary charge sheet, adding another 1,300 pages to the initial 3,991-page document filed earlier this year. The new charge sheet includes eight photographs that were recovered from a witness's mobile phone, showing Darshan and his associates at the crime scene.

These photos were reportedly deleted but later recovered by investigators, further linking Darshan to the crime. Along with the photographic evidence, the charge sheet also includes DNA reports and forensic findings from labs in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

What's Next for Darshan?

The evidence against Darshan is continuing to build, and authorities are now focused on determining whether his bail should be cancelled. The police plan to present the photographic evidence in court, and with the Home Minister pushing for bail revocation, the actor's legal team may soon face an uphill battle.

As the investigation continues, all eyes are on the court's decision regarding Darshan's bail and the ongoing efforts to uncover the truth behind the murder of Renukaswamy.
