Rape-Cheating case: Railway minister's son Karthik Gowda appears before police
28-year-old Karthik was sent for a medical examination as he is an accused in a rape case.
The public prosecutor S M Hiremani on Friday submitted 9-page objections for granting bail to Karthik while the defence lawyer B V Acharya argued that the rape allegation cannot be hold valid as the actress, who filed the case, had claimed that she was married to Karthik.
Some reports said that Karthik's bail petition orders will be heard on Saturday.
On Monday, Bangalore's session court had granted him anticipatory bail on the condition that he would have to appear before the police on 15th and 30th of every month and submit Rs 2 lakh personal bond along with 2 locals security.
He was also told to submit his passport till the end of the trial.
The case has triggered a storm in the state after the small-time model-turned-actress lodged a complaint against Karthik levelling the three charges, with the Railway minister saying the law would take its own course.
The actress had claimed she and Karthik had got married at Gowda's residence in Mangalore in June in the presence of only the driver of Gowda's son. The case has taken different twists and turns with her purported telephonic conversation with him also being released to media.
The claim about marriage came on the day when Karthik's engagement ceremony with another woman was underway at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district.
