Raju Talikote Funeral: Where Will the Last Rites of Kannada Comedy Legend Be Held?

Raju Talikote, a cherished figure in Kannada theatre and cinema, has passed away due to a heart attack. His unique comedic style and contributions have left a lasting legacy in the artistic community of Karnataka.

Renowned theatre and film comedian Raju Talikote passed away due to a heart attack while filming in Hebri, Udupi. His son, Bharat Talikote, confirmed the news and stated that the final rites will be held at their farm in Chikkasindhagi village, Vijayapura district.

Bharat Talikote expressed his grief at Manipal KMC Hospital in Udupi. Despite efforts by the film crew to save his father, they were unsuccessful. The final rites will be scheduled on October 14th evening at their farm.

Three days ago, Raju was in Hebri for a film shoot led by Shine Shetty. He suffered a heart attack during the shoot. The entire team and doctors tried hard to save him, but he passed away around 6 PM. "I miss you, Papa," Bharat tearfully said, adding that they will miss him dearly.

Previously, Raju had received treatment at Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru for a similar condition. However, this time the heart attack proved fatal, Bharat explained.

Bharat reminisced about his father's contributions to North Karnataka's theatre scene. Raju had been performing plays there for 35 years. Recognising his service, the government appointed him as director of Dharwad Rangayana. He acted in about 70 Kannada films and had over 10 more awaiting release.

Bharat shared details of the final journey: "We will first take my father's body to Dharwad Rangayana before proceeding to Chikkasindhagi village in Sindagi taluk of Vijayapura district."

Raju Talikote hailed from North Karnataka, and his performances often reflected the region's distinct dialect and humour. This unique touch added a special dimension to his comedic roles. His journey began on the stage, where he gained popularity for his exceptional acting skills even before entering the film industry. His comedic timing and dialogue delivery were unmatched, earning him countless fans over the years.

Despite having two marriages and five children-two sons and three daughters-the family remained very close-knit. They all participated in theatre together. Bharat fondly recalled how the play 'Kaliyugada Kuduka' brought fame to his father.

Raju loved spending time on his farm; thus, they decided to conduct his last rites there as per his wishes. Bharat invited fans and relatives to join them at Chikkasindhagi for the ceremony.

Legacy of Laughter

Throughout several decades, Raju Talikote remained active in both theatre and cinema, captivating audiences with his performances. Recently, he had taken on the role of director at Dharwad Rangayana, bringing new energy to the theatre scene. His sudden departure is a significant loss to the artistic community.

Raju Talikote resided in Sindagi, Talikoti, and Bengaluru and was surrounded by a large circle of admirers. His contributions to Kannada theatre and cinema will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

A Heartfelt Farewell

It is reported that Raju Talikote suffered a heart attack around midnight and was immediately taken to the hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he passed away at Manipal Hospital in Udupi. His death marks the end of an era for those who cherished his work and admired his talent.
