Times of India claimed that the actor, who is believed to be close to Modi, may join politics. Recently, BJP President in Tamil Nadu -- Pon Radhakrishnan appealed to Rajnikanth to support the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha election which is expected to be held in 2014.

Radhakrishnan, while speaking to media persons, said, "He is the most responsible and respected person in the state and he has concerns for the nation in general and the state in particular."

The state party president also added, "I issue an open appeal to the actor to take a good decision and voice in favour of the party." However, Rajinikanth himself has not confirmed the news on joining politics.

Meanwhile, the newly elected mayor of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) -- BS Satyanarayana informed that the actor may become the brand ambassador of BBMP in Bangalore. Satyanarayana, who was Rajinikanth's schoolmate, believes that the superstar would help BBMP to create awareness among Bangaloreans on the importance of segregation of waste at source.
