Rahul Gandhi To Contest Next Lok Sabha Poll From Tumkuru?

While the BJP is contemplating fielding Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, the Congress is also considering fielding Rahul Gandhi from the Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana.

The Congress high command has set a target of securing 20 Lok Sabha seats for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar from Karnataka in the next Lok Sabha polls. Consequently, the party is actively seeking right candidates capable of winning seats for the party.

Each minister has been tasked with identifying suitable candidates. Amidst this search, speculations are circulating that Rahul Gandhi might contest the next Lok Sabha election from the Tumkur constituency.

Earlier reports suggested that disgruntled BJP leader V Sommanna was planning to leave the saffron party and join the Congress. However, local Congress leaders in Tumkur have opposed this move. A meeting was convened by the Congress district committee on Wednesday, where they decided to pressure the party to request Gandhi to contest from this constituency.

Congress MLA Gubbi Srinivas stated that TV Jayachandra has extended an invitation to Rahul Gandhi to contest from Tumkur, and if Gandhi agrees, party workers would be delighted.

TB Jayachander has invited Rahul Gandhi to contest from the Lok Sabha constituency. Expressing his opinion, MLA Gubbi Shrinivas said, "We are happy that our national leader Rahul Gandhi is contesting. Rahul Gandhi is popular in this area, and we will welcome him."

Senior leader TG Jayachandra has invited Rahul Gandhi to visit the constituency, and all district leaders have expressed their anticipation for his visit.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi contested from his bastion in Amethi and Wayanad. However, he could only win the Kerala seat.
