Purple Line Commuters Demand More Namma Metro Trains Between Kempegowda and Whitefield

Bengaluru's Namma Metro Purple Line users are raising concerns online over limited train services between Kempegowda Station and Whitefield during peak hours. Commuters say the current frequency is insufficient to meet demand, making daily travel on this busy stretch increasingly difficult.

The Purple Line has become a vital option for residents trying to avoid the city's heavy traffic. Office employees, students, and college-goers rely on the metro to reach their destinations on time, and passenger numbers have steadily grown on the Kempegowda-Whitefield stretch.

Overcrowding on the Purple Line

Riders report long queues at stations, with trains often fully packed before reaching some stops. Many passengers end up standing for the entirety of the journey, prompting calls for additional services specifically on the Purple Line.

Commuters have taken to X to highlight the issue, noting that trains currently operate every seven minutes on this section. Users argue that this frequency is inadequate during office peak hours, when demand far exceeds capacity.

Calls for Increased Train Frequency

Many passengers suggest trains should run every three to four minutes during peak hours to ease overcrowding. A tighter schedule, they argue, would reduce waiting times, allow more passengers to get seats, and spread crowds more evenly across Purple Line trains.

Riders said that while Namma Metro has already improved commuting in Bengaluru, service levels on the Kempegowda-Whitefield stretch of the Purple Line need to catch up with growing demand. Regular commuters are now awaiting a response from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), hoping social media appeals will lead to more frequent trains and a more comfortable journey.
