Prof Kalburgi murder: Why was security withdrawn?
Bengaluru, Aug 30: Professor M M Kalburgi who was shot dead his residence in Dharwad this morning had refused security a few days back.
The decision to withdraw his security has come up during the investigation into his murder.
There are questions being asked as to why security was withdrawn despite intelligence suggesting that his life was in danger. However sources say that he himself had asked for the security to be withdrawn.
Earlier the Karnataka Police Chief Om Prakash said that the probe is being headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dharwad.
The police are examining if there is any CCTV footage available.
The police are trying to ascertain if they can get any images from the CCTV footage available on the street on which the two assailants fled.
The probe would also ascertain if there was any failure on the part of the police to ensure that ample protection was given to the slain Professor. There were intelligence alerts suggesting that his life was under threat.
