Prof Kalburgi murder: Special team to probe case

Bengaluru, Aug 30: A special team is being set up to investigate the murder of Prof. M M Kalburgi who was shot at his residence at Kalyan Nagar Dharwad this morning.

The preliminary investigation into the matter has revealed that two persons were at the crime scene this morning.

Two persons arrived on a bike at the residence of Professor Kalburgi at 8.40 AM today.[Prof MM Kalburgi shot dead in Dharwad]

One of them knocked on the door and when the Professor opened it he was shot at point blank range on the head.

The other person waited outside on the motor cycle the police have also learnt.

The assailants immediately fled the spot after the incident and the police have launched a manhunt for the two.
Karnataka police chief, Om Prakash informed that a team is being formed under the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dharwad tp probe the incident.

He said that the team would have investigate the matter while also adding that they were confident of cracking the case.
