JD(S) Suspends Prajwal Revanna Over Alleged Sex Tapes
Following the political and media pressure, the Janata Dal (Secular) has expelled Hassan MP and Grand Son of former PM HD Devegowda, Prajwal Revanna, over the sexual harassment and stalking allegations. The official announcement was made after JD(S)' core committee meeting that took place in Karnataka's Hubballi.
Prajwal Revanna is the BJP-JD(S) alliance's candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka which went to the polls in the second phase on April 26.

Reacting to the allegations, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and state unit chief HD Kumaraswamy made it clear that if someone has done something wrong, then they have to face the law. He said JD(S) decided to expel Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna over allegations of his sexual abuse of several women.
The move comes after several party MLAs wrote to JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda seeking immediate action against Prajwal.
Kumaraswamy added, "A decision was already made. It is to be recommended at the core committee meeting in Hubballi. Because he (Prajwal) is a Member of Parliament, it has to be done from Delhi. So I requested Deve Gowda. Neither he (Gowda) nor I were aware of this issue."
"There is no question of defending anyone when it comes to such a heinous crime. A proper investigation should be done and justice will prevail," he further stated.
However, the party will take "merciless action" if the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe proves sexual abuse charges against Prajwal Revanna.
"SIT has been formed, if the (crime) is proved in the investigation, whoever is involved has to undergo punishment. Whoever has committed the wrong has to bow down as per the law of the land. We will take merciless action from the party too, there is no question of defending him," Kumaraswamy said.
Meanwhile, accused Prajwal Revanna junked all the allegations stating videos doing round the internet are 'doctored' and it is an attempt to tarnish his and his party's image amid ongoing crucial Lok Sabha elections 2024, terming the allegations as opposition conspiracy.
