BJP: Popular Karnataka politicians eye Bengaluru North Lok Sabha seat
But considering his age, the party seems unlikely to file Gowda for another term. Besides, party leaders and workers too are not keen about his candidature.
Realizing that many have reservations about Gowda's candidature, Ashoka seems to be keen to try for the party's ticket for Bengaluru (north) Lok Sabha constituency, sources in the state unit of BJP told Deccan Chronicle.
However, Ashoka said, "I have not yet decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections, but I will take a decision only after eliciting the opinion of party workers." Sources also said it would not be a smooth sail for Ashoka with another Vokkaliga and former chief minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda too eying the same constituency and workers not keen about his candidature.
Gowda, who was elected to the Legislative Council after taking over as Chief Minister, is likely to contest the Lok Sabha polls from either Bengaluru (north), Mysore or Chikkaballapur, the sources added.
