Peenya Flyover Temporarily Shut After Lorry Fire Accident, Commuters Stuck in Gridlock
A lorry caught fire on the Peenya Flyover in Bengaluru on Thursday afternoon, leading to a temporary road closure and massive traffic snarls on Tumkur Road. The Bengaluru Traffic Police swiftly issued a traffic advisory, informing commuters of the incident and urging them to use alternative routes.

Traffic Police Advisory:
"Due to a lorry on fire on the Peenya flyover, the Peenya flyover towards the city is temporarily closed. Those coming towards the city should come down the flyover and use an alternative road."
Peenya Flyover is a key part of the Tumkur Road corridor, connecting major industrial areas such as Peenya, Peenya Industrial Area, and Nagasandra to Bengaluru city. The sudden fire forced authorities to divert vehicles to the service roads below, triggering heavy congestion and long queues of vehicles.
The fire broke out around 1 PM. The lorry driver quickly jumped out of the vehicle upon noticing flames and escaped unharmed. Firefighters arrived at the spot and managed to extinguish the blaze, but traffic continued to remain slow-moving for several hours.
