Owing To Demand, KMF To Reintroduce Buffalo Milk to Market: Check Price Details, Launch Date
Owing to rising consumer demand, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is prepared to reintroduce buffalo milk to the market, The New Indian Express reported.
It will be made available in the market from December 21 and 22 in various parts of the state. The price of the milk will range from 70-75 per litre although the final rates are still under consideration, an official from the KMF told the daily.

According to MK Jagadish, the Managing Director of KMF, half-litre milk packets are being introduced to the market in the initial stage. Two years ago, KMF used to sell approximately 4,000-5,000 litres of buffalo milk but had to halt sales due to a supply shortage.
"Sales and supplies will commence shortly and a spurt in demand for buffalo milk is expected, alongside cow milk and its products," he claimed.
On a daily basis, the Karnataka Milk Federation sells over 46 lakh litres of milk and 10 lakh litres of every day in the state.
As per the official, Milk will be sourced from farmers in Vijayapura and Belagavi, as not all unions possess an adequate number of buffaloes for milk supply. Due to the ample buffalo population in North Karnataka, procurement will be conducted from that region. According to Jagadish, the volume of procurement will be adjusted based on market dynamics and demand.
Another official from KMF said that there is growing competition from other brands in the milk supply sector. Both Nandini and KMF aim to stay competitive across all products and not fall behind. The competition is particularly intense in the supply of ghee and milk.
"Organisations, including private and religious, contact us for milk, ghee and butter. We qualify in technical details, but lose out in financial bids. We recently lost the bid to supply ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust Board for laddoos," the official added.
