"The wedding is tomorrow and we are unable to make payments to anyone. Not the priest, caterers, flower vendors, for pooja articles, not even arrange for food for guests at home. The ripple effect of this has been major for us and I am sure that's the case for most people who have weddings and ceremonies planned through the week", says Beena, a bride-to-be.

With her wedding slated to take place on November 10, her family is in the midst of a crisis. All the liquid cash that was set aside for last minute payments have turned into nothing more than paper bundles overnight. The sudden ban of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes has come as a shocker to citizens. The worst affected seem to be the ones with immediate major expenditure.

With vendors refusing to accept cash in Rs 500 or Rs 1,000 notes and banks shut for all cash related transactions till November 10, it is a catch 22 situation for family members. While all wedding related rituals are underway, the family hopes things will get under control soon.
