Not afraid of Starbucks's entry in India, says CCD

According to the blog, the Seattle-based Starbucks is still an unknown commodity in most parts of India and the CCD, a Bangalore-based brand, is still way ahead in the competition.
The CCD, retail arm of the Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Co. Ltd. has over 1,500 outlets across the nation and plans to open another 50 new centres in the next two years. The Starbucks has only 34 outlets on the other hand.
The CCD has over 1,500 outlets across India while the Starbucks has just 30-odd
K Ramakrishnan, president of marketing at the CCD, said India is still a fresher in the business of coffee consumption and it gives Starbucks an opportunity and its entry will help the market in the coffee sector grow.
Starbucks with its Indian partner-the tea-to-SUV Tata Group-set up its first outlet a year ago in Mumbai.
