'New Taxi Fares In Bengaluru' Trends On Internet After Karnataka Govt Approves New Rates For Cabs
Soon after Karnataka's Siddaramaiah Government approved new fares for taxis and cab services on Sunday, 'New Taxi Fares In Bengaluru' started trending on the internet.
According to the reports, rental cars running in the state will now be divided into three categories based on cost and class variant of the cabs like hatchback, SUV, or Sedan.
The reports said that taxi fares will now start from Rs 100 for up to 4 km for vehicles worth Rs 10 Lakh. Followed by Rs 24 charges for every kilometer.

The second category will comprise vehicles worth Rs 10 to 15 Lakhs, for which, the base fare price has been set at Rs 115 for the first 4 kms. After that, passengers have to pay Rs 28 per kilometer for category two cabs.
While third and sedan class cabs that cost above 15 lakh, passengers have to Rs 130 to ride for the first 4 km and after that, Rs 32 will be added to the total for each kilometer.
The Karnataka Government had increased taxi fares last in 2021. According to the old rates, passengers pay Rs 75 for the first 4 kms and chargers multiplied by Rs 18 for the rest of the kilometers for non-AC services. While AC taxi charges were starting from Rs 100 for 4 kms and Rs 24/km thereafter.
According to L Hemanth Kumar, the Secretary of the State Transport Authority, earlier there were different charges for app-based and city taxis, with each category having specific minimum and maximum rates.
However, these distinctions have now been eliminated and the state government has announced a uniform fare structure for all taxis and cabs running in the state.
He also underlined that the waiting charge remains unchanged, that is, the first five minutes being free and Rs 1 per minute thereafter.
