Namma Metro Yellow Line: Bengaluru's Driverless Metro Nears Launch With Signal Testing Phase
The Driverless Namma Metro Yellow Line of Namma Metro, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra is set to start its service soon. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that the signaling system and integration testing will be conducted on the Yellow Line.
The first set of six coaches, which arrived in Bengaluru from China on February 20, is currently undergoing static and electrical circuit testing. The train will soon be subjected to mains examination, said a senior BMRCL official.

The train will undergo a comprehensive testing process, consisting of 37 tests, to ensure that it is fully integrated with the signaling, telecommunications, and power supply systems. The Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) and the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will conduct safety inspections before the train is deemed ready for operation.
Before starting operations, the processes of seeking feedback from RDSO and CMRS, as well as obtaining approval from the Railway Board, must be completed. The Yellow Line, which stretches 18.82 km, is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year. The route connects RV Road to Bommasandra and features 16 stations. Additionally, a 3.13 km long combined metro and road flyover from Ragi Gudda to Central Silk Board will help decongest heavy traffic at Central Silk Board Junction.
