Namma Metro: Women-Driven E-Autorickshaws Deployed At Indiranagar, Yelachenahalli Metro Stations In Bengaluru
To improve first and last-mile connectivity of the Bengaluru Metro aka Namma Metro, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has introduced e-autorickshaws at Indiranagar and Yelachenahalli metro stations. These E-autorickshaws will be operated by women drivers. With this decision, the Bengaluru metro aims to ease commuters' travel, empower women, and contribute to a green and healthy environment.
These E-Rickshaws can be booked through MetroRide, said reports.

Talking to the media, Managing Director of Alstom India, Olivier Loison, said, "As part of the pilot phase of the program, we will have electric autos deployed as a last-mile service at Indiranagar and Yelachenahalli stations, serving commuters in a radius of 4 km from each station."
Notably, the idea to introduce electric autos was given by former MP Rajeev Gowda, a member of the Brand Bengaluru Committee and vice chairman of the State Institute for the Transformation of Karnataka.
Kalpana Kataria, executive director for Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) was also present at the launch of the initiative to deploy e-rickshaws at Indiranagar and Yelachenahalli metro stations.
A day ago, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notices to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation and Karnataka government secretary to submit their reports on the recent incident, in which, a farmer was denied entry just because of his untidy clothes.
The NHRC said it was a clear case of discrimination.
However, the metro authority took strict action against the security personnel after the video of the incident went viral. A social media user and co-passenger of the farmer had asked Bengaluru metro whether there is a dress code to board the train. If not then why farmer was denied entry?
