Namma Metro Weighs Option Of One More Dedicated Coach For Women Commuters In Bengaluru
Bengaluru's Namma Metro is stepping up its game to combat sexual harassment, doubling the number of coaches exclusively for women passengers in response to recent incidents. This decisive move reflects a commitment to providing a safe and secure travel experience for all, particularly women.
In the last two months, three instances of sexual harassment have been reported, prompting a reassessment of the current safety protocols. In a bid to enhance safety, authorities have decided to allocate an additional coach exclusively for women passengers, effectively doubling the existing reserved space.

Presently, one coach out of six was designated for women passengers. This adjustment not only expands the space for women commuters but also aims to improve their overall travel experience. The increased allocation of dedicated coaches is intended to deter instances of harassment and establish a more comfortable and secure environment for female passengers.
This strategic initiative demonstrates a commitment to cultivating a safe public transportation setting and sends a clear message that such incidents will not be tolerated. As the city continues prioritizing the well-being of its residents, this decision emphasizes the significance of addressing and mitigating issues related to gender-based harassment on public transit systems.
