Namma Metro’s KR Puram To Bengaluru Airport via Hebbal Route To Open By October 2026
Bengaluru is set to welcome a direct metro connection to Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL). The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that the Namma metro route from Hebbal to the airport is expected to be completed in about 18 months, aiming for public use by June 2026.
This new metro line will cover 37 kilometers from KR Puram to the airport and comes with an estimated cost of ₹9,616.51 crores. When it opens, this route will make it easier for passengers traveling to and from the airport.

It will include 17 Namma metro stations, such as Kasturinagar, Horamavu, HRBR Layout, Kalyana Nagar, HBR Layout, Nagawara, Veerannapalya, Kempapura, Hebbal, Kodigehalli, Jakkur Cross, Yelahanka, Bagalur Cross, Bettahalasuru or Chikkajala, Doddajala, Airport City, and KIAL Terminals. The line will have both elevated and underground sections to fit the city's landscape.
BMRCL is also planning to launch the KR Puram to Airport route by October 2026, which will further improve connectivity in the city.
Construction efforts are underway to ensure the project stays on track. As Bengaluru continues to grow, this metro connection is expected to ease traffic along one of the city's busy routes and provide a quicker option for passengers heading to the airport.
