Namma Metro Pink Line: Tunneling 94% Complete, On Track For August Completion
The tunneling work on the Namma Metro Pink Line (Kalena Agrahara-Nagavara) is in its final stages, with an expected completion by August. The tunnel, dug in three phases, has seen two phases completed, and the third phase is underway, with 94% of the drilling work done.
Tunga and Bhadra TBMs (tunnel boring machines) are drilling a 935-meter tunnel from KG Halli to Nagavara in the third phase. Tunga TBM started drilling southward on February 2, while Bhadra TBM began northward drilling on April 2. These TBMs are expected to finish by July 31 and August 31, respectively.

The completed tunnel work includes the stretch from Shadimahal to Venkateswarapura (1066.80 m) in the first phase and from Venkateswarapura to K.G. Halli (1185.80 m) in the second phase.
Track installation and civil work are ongoing where tunneling is complete. Additionally, track alignment work and station construction are progressing. The line is anticipated to open for commercial traffic by the end of 2025.
Part of the phase-II project, will span 21.26 km from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, with 18 stations. It includes a 7.50 km elevated route with six stations from Kalena Agrahara to Swagat Road and a tunnel segment with 12 stations from Dairy Circle to Nagawara.
