Namma Metro Pink Line: Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara Stretch Ready On Track For December Launch

The 21.26-km Namma Metro Pink Line of Bengaluru Metro, stretching from Kalena Agrahara (Gottigere) to Nagawara, is steadily progressing towards its launch, slated for December 2025. Among its segments, the 7.5-km elevated stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is making swift headway, with work advancing smoothly across six key stations.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is gearing up to receive its first train set from BEML Limited by June 2025. "We are assured of another train by July, with two train sets arriving every month thereafter. By the launch, we'll have at least 9 to 10 train sets ready," a senior Metro official told Indian Express. The six stations in this stretch include Tavarekere, Jayadeva Interchange, J.P. Nagar IV Phase, IIMB, Hulimavu, and Kalena Agrahara.

Progress is visible on several fronts: the viaduct is complete, 70% of the tracks are laid, and architectural work is underway at four stations. The J.P. Nagar station, which will also serve Metro Phase-3, is set to be ready by March 2025. At Kalena Agrahara, construction of 50% of the concourse and platform area remains.

Work on the Kothanur depot, which will house the trains for the Namma metro Pink Line, has reached 80% completion. BMRCL aims to finish all civil works by March 2025, after which system-related tasks like signaling and telecommunications will begin in full swing.

The namma metro Pink Line's underground stretch-spanning 13.86 km-reached a significant milestone with the final Tunnel Boring Machine breaking through on October 30. This marked the completion of one of the project's most complex tasks.

Track-laying has commenced, with 4 km completed. However, slow progress by Texmaco Rail and Engineering Limited prompted BMRCL to bring in Larsen & Toubro Ltd to speed up the process. Officials remain optimistic about having the underground section ready by 2026.
