Namma Metro Phase-3 Project: Firms Selected For Vital Geo-Technical Studies
In a significant move to enhance metro connectivity and infrastructure in the city, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has awarded contracts to multiple bidders for geo-technical investigations related to the viaduct and station works in Namma metro Phase 3 of the metro line. This project is crucial for the detailed planning and successful execution of the upcoming metro expansion.
The contracts, which involve four packages, were awarded to Manglam Consultancy Services, SECON Pvt. Ltd., and Myrtle Project and Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., with a total value of Rs. 5,90,30,326. The scope of work includes geo-technical investigations for the viaduct and stations from various locations, including JP Nagar 4th Phase to Mysore Road Station, Mysore Road Station to Kanteerava Studio Station, Kanteerava Studio Station to Kempapura Station, and Hosahalli Station to Kadabagere Station, as well as the Sunkadakatte Depot.

The geo-technical investigations will provide critical information about the sub-soil conditions, allowing BMRCL to design the line's structures, including viaducts and stations, effectively. The reports will be included in the civil construction tender documents to help infrastructure companies make more informed financial bids and use appropriate machinery, methods, and technology during construction.
The Bangalore Metro's Phase 3 has been in the planning stages since 2015, initially exploring 105.55 km of routes. By 2020, BMRCL narrowed down the project to just two lines. The project has been approved by Karnataka's state government and is currently awaiting approval from the Central Government cabinet.
The development marks a critical step in improving Bangalore's transportation infrastructure, aiming to meet the growing needs of the city's population. The successful completion of Phase 3 will enhance metro connectivity and infrastructure, addressing the city's expanding transportation needs.
