Namma Metro Green Line Expansion: Safety Clearance On Tumkuru Road Done, Launch Date Expected This Month
The 3.17-km Namma Metro Green Line extension between Nagasandra and Madavara on Tumakuru Road has moved a step closer to opening, with the safety inspection completed on Thursday by A M Choudhary, Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), Southern Circle.
Though the inspection was initially planned for two days, all tests, including the crucial train run, were wrapped up in a single day-much to the relief of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL).

This new stretch, featuring three stations-Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu (previously Jindal Nagar), and Madavara (BIEC)-is eagerly awaited by commuters. When asked about the launch, BMRCL Managing Director Maheshwar Rao said, "We're waiting for the CMRS inspection results before finalizing the next steps."
An official expressed optimism, saying they hope to launch the line before the month is out. "The exact date will depend on when both state and central ministers are available, but if needed, we might even be allowed to open the line without the usual VIP fanfare," he added, hinting at the desire to get the service running as soon as possible for the public.
