Metro Mitra App Now Serves Entire Bengaluru For Hassle-Free Travel

The Metro Mitra app, originally intended to improve last-mile connectivity within Bengaluru by facilitating travel between final destinations and metro stations, has recently expanded its reach. Now, it covers the entire city area, eliminating the necessity for a separate app.

Contrary to its predecessor, 'Namma Yatri,' operating on an open-mobility network, MetroMitra harnesses the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), providing a seamless ride experience.

What is Metro Mitra?

The Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU) in Bengaluru has collaborated with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to introduce an app designed specifically for Namma metro commuters to book auto rides, known as Metro Mitra. This unique app, unlike other aggregator platforms, is tailored exclusively for metro users and offers services to and from all Bengaluru metro stations.

Ensuring adherence to government-fixed auto fares, the app aims to streamline metro access for users, providing a hassle-free experience.

How to use it

To use the Metro Mitra app, commuters can initiate an auto ride while purchasing a Metro ticket through the BMRCL app or its WhatsApp chatbot feature.

Upon entering the destination in the app, an estimated fare will be displayed. After confirming the booking, the commuter will receive a one-time password along with ride details. Subsequently, the commuter will be allocated the designated Metro Mitra zone. This entire process operates within the framework of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Autos participating in the Metro Mitra service will be mandated to display distinct stickers on their vehicles for easy identification, distinguishing them from other service autos. These stickers will contain a QR code, enabling passengers to access driver information and provide feedback regarding their ride experience.
