Meet South India's First AI News Presenter Soundarya

Kannada has become the first among the South Indian languages to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) news presenters.

Power TV gets the credit for launching the first AI news presenter named Soundarya. In the first episode, the presenter introduced herself by saying, "Hello everyone. AI is leaving its footprint in every industry, and it has entered the TV news industry as well. A few of me colleagues (AI news presenters) started presenting news in some of the channels in north India. I am Soundarya, south India's first robotic anchor by Power TV."

The channel has plans to experiment more shows with Soundarya.

Several other channels in the nation have also introduced their own AI-powered news presenters. One notable example is Lisa, the state's first AI news presenter, unveiled by the Odia channel OTV. Lisa garnered significant attention on the internet, impressing numerous individuals with her flawless delivery of news in both English and Odia.

Though Lisa can speak in many languages, for the time being, she will only present news in Odia and English for the network's television and digital platforms, the company said.

"Efforts are underway to make Lisa more proficient in Odia in the coming days. You can find and follow Lisa on all the prominent social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, among others," the release added.

It may be recalled that India Today Group in March has India's first AI news presenter Sana for their Hindi channel Aaj Tak.
