Mantri Mall In Bengaluru's Malleshwaram Closed Over Unpaid Tax Dues
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has taken action against Mantri Square mall in Bengaluru's Malleswaram by sealing the premises for allegedly defaulting on property tax to the tune of Rs 50 crore.
The BBMP officials sealed the main entrance of the mall and displayed a sign indicating that the closure was due to outstanding property tax payments and the cancellation of the trade license.

A team of BBMP officials arrived to serve a notice, coinciding with the mall's bustling weekend footfall. It's been reported that the mall typically contests such notices in court to continue operations. With a government holiday extending until Sunday, an influx of customers was expected. However, the rent required to open the mall today remains unpaid, causing concern among mall workers who have gathered outside after posting a notice.
This is not the first instance of the BBMP taking such action against Mantri Mall for unpaid property taxes.
