Manager Beaten to Death With Dumbbell in Bengaluru Office After Light Disagreement

A disagreement over lights at a Bengaluru workplace turned deadly early Saturday. Bheemesh Babu, a 41-year-old manager from Chitradurga, was killed by his colleague using a dumbbell. The incident occurred around 1:30 am at Data Digital Bank's rented office in Govindarajanagar. This company is known for storing movie shooting videos.

Police reported that Babu, who was sensitive to bright lights, frequently asked coworkers to turn them off when unnecessary. Around 1 am, he requested Somala Vamshi, a 24-year-old technical executive from Vijayawada, to switch off the lights again. This request led to an argument that quickly escalated into violence.

Violent Altercation

In a moment of anger, Vamshi allegedly threw chilli powder at Babu before attacking him with a dumbbell. He struck Babu multiple times on the head, face, and chest. After Babu collapsed, Vamshi sought assistance from other employees and called for an ambulance. Unfortunately, Babu was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, Vamshi went to the Govindarajanagar police station and surrendered himself. A murder case has been filed against him. DCP (West) Girish S confirmed that the dispute over office lighting led to this tragic event.

The altercation began when Babu asked Vamshi to turn off the lights due to his sensitivity. This seemingly minor request spiraled into a deadly confrontation. After realizing the gravity of his actions, Vamshi immediately surrendered to authorities.
