Man Poses as Hindu On Bumble, Deceives Woman, Absconds with Money After Physical Relationship

In a distressing incident of online deception, Bengaluru police have apprehended a man for utilising a dating app to befriend a woman under a false identity and subsequently defrauding her on the pretext of marriage.

The accused, identified as Mudasir, cunningly created a fake profile under the name Anirudh on the popular dating app Bumble. Through this fabricated persona, he initiated contact with a woman and established a connection with her. Over a series of meetings, the two individuals developed a physical relationship, as Mudasir consistently assured the woman of his intention to marry her.

Exploiting the woman's trust, Mudasir conspired a scheme to extort money from her. He claimed that his mother was unwell and managed to persuade the victim to hand over Rs 1 lakh. Later, he concocted a tragic tale, stating that his mother had passed away, and he needed to travel to Dubai to meet his bereaved brother.

Following these events, the accused promptly switched off his mobile phone, severing all contact with the woman. However, determined to uncover the truth, the woman conducted her own investigation on social media, only to discover that the man she knew as Anirudh was, in fact, Mudasir. Shockingly, she learned that he was already married and had children.

Realising the gravity of the situation, the woman lodged a formal complaint at the Amruthahalli Police Station. Promptly acting on the report, the police registered an FIR (First Information Report) and initiated an investigation. Through diligent efforts, law enforcement authorities were able to track down and apprehend Mudasir. He is currently under interrogation, as the police seek to ascertain if he has defrauded other women in the past by falsely claiming to be a Hindu.
