Man Gropes Woman In Bengaluru’s BTM Layout, Flees Scene; Caught on CCTV

A man allegedly sexually harassed a woman in Bengaluru's BTM Layout in the early hours of April 3, an incident that was captured on a CCTV camera and has since gone viral on social media.

According to the footage, two women were walking through a narrow alleyway when a man, who appeared to be following them, suddenly approached, cornered them, and groped one of the women before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred around 1:52 am. The women can be seen walking away moments later, visibly shaken by the sudden assault.

As of now, no formal complaint has been filed against the unidentified man by the victim. However, Bengaluru Police said that a case would be registered suo moto if the victims do not come forward. An investigation is underway.

Similar Case Reported in January

This is not the first time such an incident has been reported in the city. In January this year, a 24-year-old woman from Kammanahalli was allegedly harassed by two men who forcibly entered a cab she had booked.

The incident took place around 2 am on January 27. As soon as the woman entered the vehicle, the two men forced themselves in, leading to a confrontation with the driver. Fearing for her safety, the woman tried to exit the cab, but one of the men allegedly grabbed her by the neck while the other attempted to tear her clothes.

The woman screamed for help, prompting the attackers to flee. She later lodged a complaint with the police.

Both cases have raised serious concerns about the safety of women in Bengaluru, especially during late-night hours.
