Maharashtra Man Butchers Wife In Bengaluru Rented House, Flees After Calling Her Parents
Begaluru murder: In a gruesome crime, a man allegedly butchered his wife, dismembered her body, and stuffed the remains into a suitcase at their residence in Ambedkar Apartment, located in the Doddakammanahalli area under the Hulimavu police limits in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar (36) from Maharashtra, killed his wife, Gauri Anil Sambekar (32), before informing her parents about the act.

Following a complaint by Gauri's family, Maharashtra police alerted their counterparts in Bengaluru, prompting the Hulimavu police to conduct an investigation. Shocked neighbors have expressed horror over the brutality of the crime.
Accused Husband Detained from Maharashtra
Rakesh and Gauri, both originally from Maharashtra, had been living in a rented house on third floor in Doddakammanahalli, Bengaluru since February 2025. They were reportedly working remotely for a private company. According to police, Rakesh worked as a project manager at a private firm. However, he was later detained from Maharashtra.
Police Seek Motive Behind the Crime
A senior police official told that initially they initially considered the incident a suicide. However, upon arriving at the scene, they found Gauri's body inside a suitcase. "Forensic analysts have identified a stab wound on the body," the police stated.
''The woman's body was found in the suitcase kept in the washroom," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Sarah Fathima said.
While the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear, police have launched a probe into the incident.
Authorities revealed that after committing the crime, Rakesh contacted Gauri's parents and informed them of her death. Distressed by the shocking revelation, her family immediately reported the matter to the local police in Maharashtra, who then relayed the information to the Bengaluru police. Acting on this tip-off, Hulimavu police visited the couple's residence for further investigation.
Neighbors React to the Horror
According to reports, Rakesh and Gauri had moved into the house just a month ago. On the night of March 26, Rakesh reportedly left the house around 12:30 AM and has been missing since. Before fleeing, he allegedly told another resident in the same building that his wife had died. The frightened tenant then informed the house owner, who in turn contacted the police at around 5.30 pm and a team was dispatched to the spot. The police officers found the house was locked, prompting them to break the locks to gain entry, where they found the suitcase in the washroom.
Authorities are now on the lookout for Rakesh, while forensic experts continue to analyse the crime scene for further leads.
