Live Dakshina Kannada Election Results 2024: Captain Brijesh Chowta Vs Padmaraj
Dakshina Kannada, a significant city and Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka, holds strategic importance. Situated between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, it stands out as the sole constituency in Karnataka with access to marine, air, rail, and road connectivity. This unique geo-economic advantage renders Dakshina Kannada a fiercely contested battleground in elections.
Dakshina Kannada is a parliamentary constituency in Karnataka comprising eight assembly segments: Belthangady, Moodabidri, Mangalore City North, Mangalore City South, Bantval, Puttur, Sullia, and Mangalore.

In the 2024 Karnataka Lok Sabha General Elections, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) have nominated new candidates for the Dakshina Kannada seat. Captain Brijesh Chowta, formerly associated with the Bharitya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and currently serving as the BJP State Secretary for Karnataka, is contesting on behalf of the BJP. Padmaraj, a practicing lawyer and the Karnataka Congress State Secretary, is the Congress's candidate for the seat.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections , Nalin Kumar Kateel from the BJP emerged victorious with a winning margin of 20.42%. He defeated Mithun M Rai from Congress. The BJP and INC secured vote shares of 57.57% and 37.15%, respectively. Nalin Kumar Kateel, also from the BJP, won the elections in 2014, and in 2009, the Dakshina Kannada constituency elected him as well. The voter turnout was 77.99% in 2019, 77.14% in 2014, and 74.45% in 2009.
The BJP is determined to maintain its winning streak in Dakshina Kannada. Remarkably, the party has held the Lok Sabha seat in Dakshina Kannada since 1991 without a single loss.
