The Karnataka Forest Department's leopard task force continues its efforts to locate and capture a leopard that was reportedly spotted near a toll plaza in Electronics City on September 17, 2024.

Assistant Conservator of Forests for Bengaluru South, V. Ganesh, told *The Hindu* on Thursday that the task force personnel have been deployed in the area where the big cat was seen on September 17. CCTV footage had captured the leopard crossing a flyover near the toll plaza in the early hours of the day, but there have been no further sightings since.

"Our team is actively searching for the leopard, but there has been no fresh evidence of its presence, either from the team or the camera traps we've installed," Mr. Ganesh said.

On the same day, Deputy Conservator of Forests for Bengaluru Urban, N. Ravindra Kumar, stated that there was no official confirmation of the leopard sighting. "A video has been circulating, suggesting that a leopard was seen in Electronics City and captured on CCTV, but we have no confirmation yet," he said.

This was not the first incident of leopard sightings in the area. Earlier, on September 2, residents of BSR Layout in Kyalasanahalli near Jigani reported spotting another leopard.

In response to these recurring sightings in residential areas, the Forest Department has established a dedicated rapid-response task force to address the growing concerns.
