KSRTC Employees To Begin Indefinite Strike From December 31
The Transport Department is actively working to avert a planned indefinite strike by transport employees set for December 31. The employees are demanding various benefits, including a salary increase. A meeting led by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy was held to discuss strategies to prevent the bus strike. Senior officials from all four corporations participated in the discussions.

Financial Challenges and Employee Demands
During the meeting, the financial status of the corporations and employee demands were examined. However, no final decision was made on how to address the strike call. It was suggested that leaders of the striking organisations meet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for further discussions.
The Karnataka Essential Services Management Act (ESMA) has been extended for another six months. This extension prevents transport employees from participating in strikes starting January 1. The order, issued by BMTC, aims to maintain uninterrupted bus services during this period.
Efforts to Prevent Strike
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy stated, "I have held a meeting with the presidents, vice presidents and senior officers of all the four corporations. I have already requested the employee organizations to withdraw from the strike. They are also aware of the financial situation of the corporations. Therefore, I have requested them not to strike and we will take all kinds of measures to prevent the strike."
The Joint Action Committee of State Road Transport Corporations' labour organisations had previously notified the Labour Department about their intention to strike indefinitely. Consequently, a negotiation meeting is scheduled between committee leaders and corporation authorities on December 30.
There is a possibility that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah might chair a negotiation meeting on Monday evening if circumstances allow. This could provide an opportunity for dialogue between government officials and employee representatives.
