Kodava National Council Urges Security for Rashmika Amid Ongoing Controversy

Actress Rashmika Mandanna has recently faced intense criticism, particularly from MLA Ravikumar Ganiga, who has repeatedly targeted her over her remarks about Karnataka. The controversy began when Rashmika, in response to an invitation to a program, questioned where Karnataka was, a statement that drew sharp reactions. Ravikumar Ganiga responded by saying that she "needs to be taught a proper lesson."

Kodava National Council Urges Security for Rashmika Amid Ongoing Controversy

Adding to the backlash, Rashmika's introduction of herself as a Hyderabadi at a Mumbai event further fueled the criticism. Following attacks from MLA Ravikumar and the Kannada Defence Forces, the Kodava National Council has now extended its support to the actress.

Kodava National Council President N.U. Nachappa has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara, urging them to provide adequate security to Rashmika. He highlighted that Rashmika, who hails from the indigenous Kodava community, has achieved remarkable success in the Indian film industry through sheer hard work and dedication. He also condemned the unnecessary criticism and mental harassment directed at her, equating it to threats against her personal freedom.

"Respect Rashmika's Choices" - Kodava National Council

"Rashmika Mandanna is a celebrated actress, and we must respect her choices and freedoms. She should not be forced to conform to others' expectations or dictated by anyone's personal opinions. If such coercion continues, it would amount to Kodava-phobia-an attack on her identity and an attempt to impose undue pressure on her," Nachappa stated.

Furthermore, he pointed out the irony of MLAs from Mandya- a region known for its devotion to the Cauvery River-criticizing Rashmika, who is often regarded as "the beloved daughter of Mother Cauvery." He stated that such criticism from elected representatives, who are sworn to uphold constitutional values and protect citizens' rights, is highly objectionable.

Amid the controversy, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar remarked that he "knows how to tighten the noose around the film industry." Reacting to this, MLA Ravikumar Ganiga continued his attack on Rashmika, accusing her of speaking disrespectfully about Karnataka despite being invited to a program in the state.

As the debate rages on, Rashmika Mandanna has yet to respond to the latest developments.
