Karnataka Yellow Alert Issued: IMD Predicts Intense Rain For Bengaluru And These Regions
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that stormy winds originating from Lakshadweep will bring heavy rainfall to several regions, including Bengaluru, between October 3 and October 9. This weather pattern is expected to significantly impact southern inland and coastal districts of Karnataka.
According to meteorological reports, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the Maldives and surrounding areas, which has now moved toward Lakshadweep. This storm system, extending from the sea level to a height of 4.5 kilometres, is headed southwestward, bringing moisture-laden winds to Karnataka. Bengaluru is expected to experience rain over the next three days, with more intense showers anticipated across the state.

Weather expert C.S. Patil shared a video announcement, stating that Bengaluru will see cloudy skies with heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in certain areas during the evening and night. Moderate rain is predicted from October 3 to October 7 in the city, with neighbouring districts like Ramnagar, Tumkur, Chikkaballapur, and Mandya likely to receive heavier precipitation.
Today, heavy rain is expected across southern interior locations, while light rain is possible in the northern regions. The IMD predicts widespread rainfall in southern Karnataka districts from October 3 to 9. Coastal areas may also experience heavy rainfall, leading to a yellow alert being issued for specific locations on October 4 and 5.
Bengaluru, along with the districts of Ramanagara, Mandya, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, and Davangere, is expected to receive substantial rainfall. Meteorologists have predicted a wetter-than-usual October, with widespread rain bringing cooler temperatures and a lively weather pattern throughout the month.
