Karnataka Weather Forecast: Koppala, Uttara Kannada, Vijayanagara To Face Heatwaves

North Interior Karnataka is likely to face heatwaves and humid temperatures in the coming days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of Karnataka are likely to see a rise in temperature from March 15 to 19.

Reacting to the IMD's warning, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao advised people to take precautions, especially avoiding outdoor activities between noon and 3 pm.

Karnataka Weather Forecast

Ainapur Hobli village in Kalaburagi district recorded the highest temperature at 42.8 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

In Raichur, Dinesh Gundu Rao mentioned that government office timings might be revised due to the heat. He suggested scheduling work for mornings or evenings and avoiding field visits during peak afternoon hours. Temperatures in Raichur are nearing 43 to 44 degrees Celsius, prompting these considerations.

Temperature Rise and Heatwave Warning
The IMD forecasts a rise of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures for North Interior Karnataka from March 15 to 17. A heatwave warning is also in place for isolated areas on March 18 and 19. South Interior Karnataka will see no major changes in the next day but may experience a gradual increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius soon after.

Rao emphasised staying hydrated and focusing on nutrition to prevent dehydration. He assured that government hospitals are equipped with necessary facilities. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported several districts, including Kalaburagi, Bidar, Bagalkote, Raichur, Yadgir, and Vijayapura, experiencing temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Districts Facing Extreme Heat
Extreme heat was noted in parts of Bagalkote and Belagavi as well. Isolated areas in Tumakuru, Ballari, Gadag, Koppala, Uttara Kannada, Vijayanagara, Chikkaballapura, and Mysuru districts also faced high temperatures. The KSNDMC bulletin highlighted specific locations recording maximum temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius across various districts.

An IMD analysis revealed that north Interior Karnataka experienced significantly higher than normal temperatures yesterday by up to 5 degrees Celsius. In contrast, coastal Karnataka saw smaller deviations from normal values by about 1.6 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Comparative Temperature Analysis
Temperatures across most of Karnataka remained close to "near normal," fluctuating between -1.5 to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to usual values for this time of year. Despite some regions experiencing extreme heat, others maintained relatively stable conditions.
