Karnataka Weather Alert: Will the Rains Make a Comeback In Bengaluru This Week? IMD Hints at Rainy Days Ahead
After a brief lull, the southwest monsoon has resumed activity over Karnataka including Bengaluru, bringing much-needed rainfall across several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh weather alerts and forecasts for the state, especially highlighting conditions for June 9 and beyond.
Monsoon Weak But Active in Pockets
The IMD observed that southwest monsoon was weak over Karnataka during the past 24 hours. Despite this, rainfall was recorded at many places over Coastal Karnataka, one or two places in North Interior Karnataka, and isolated parts of South Interior Karnataka.

Yellow Alert for June 9: North Interior Karnataka on Rain Radar
The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for June 9 in parts of North Interior Karnataka, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds at one or two places. Districts likely to be impacted include:
- Koppal
- Raichur
- Vijayapura
- Bagalkot
- Gadag
Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert for potential weather-related disruptions.
Moderate Rain in More Districts
Though not under a formal alert, other parts of North Karnataka may also experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds. These include:
- Bidar
- Kalaburagi
- Haveri
- Belagavi
- Dharwad
- Yadgir
South Interior Karnataka Braces for Rain, Wind Gusts
In South Interior Karnataka, including several major urban and semi-urban districts, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds (40-50 km/h) are expected at many places. Affected districts include:
- Bengaluru Urban & Rural
- Chikkaballapur
- Chamarajanagar
- Mandya
- Ramanagara
- Chitradurga
- Davanagere
- Tumakuru
- Shivamogga
- Chikkamagaluru
- Hassan
- Mysuru
- Kodagu
- Ballari
- Vijayanagara
Coastal Karnataka to See Steady Rainfall
Moderate rain is likely to occur at many places across Coastal Karnataka, particularly in:
Uttara Kannada
Dakshina Kannada
Udupi
Tourists and coastal residents are advised to exercise caution during this period.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast (June 8-11)
According to IMD's Bengaluru city forecast:
June 8-10: Partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activity. Gusty winds up to 40-50 km/h are likely.
June 11 onwards: Expect a generally cloudy sky with continued light to moderate rainfall.
Commuters in Bengaluru should prepare for occasional downpours, especially in the late afternoons and evenings.
