Karnataka Weather Alert: Will Bengaluru See More Rain? Check Latest Forecast

After enduring a prolonged dry spell for six months, Bengaluru recently experienced a much-needed reprieve in the form of intense rainfall over two days. This sudden change in weather caused blockages in several areas but brought relief to residents who had been struggling with rising temperatures and constant heat in the Garden City.

The Global Forecast System (GFS) predicts good rainfall activity over Karnataka until May 19th, spanning the next three weeks. This forecast offers a welcome relief from the long spell of dry and hot weather conditions that have plagued the region.

The dry spell was attributed to the unusually inactive pre-monsoon Peninsular India trough, a weather system responsible for bringing rain to the area. While coastal regions like Kerala and coastal Karnataka received some relief, interior areas such as North and South Karnataka, including Bengaluru, suffered the most.

However, relief is on the horizon. A north-south trough extending from Telangana to Kerala, coupled with a low-pressure system, is expected to become active soon. This development will trigger light, scattered rain across the southern tip of the peninsula. Bengaluru may experience light showers as early as May 6th, with the main rainfall expected between May 7th and 11th. There is a possibility of isolated heavy downpours during this period.

Additionally, temperatures are expected to drop from May 7th onwards, providing a pleasant and cooler weekend on May 11th and 12th for Bengaluru residents.
